The customer
ewl „energie wasser luzern“ built a high-security data center in the heart of Lucerne with the Rechenzentrum Stollen Luzern. The data center is located in an underground bunker complex shielded from the outside world. The operation is highly energy-efficient: The data center is powered by ecological electricity and cooled with lake water from Lake Lucerne. Additionally, the waste heat from the servers serves as a heat source for heating surrounding buildings.

The Challenge
ewl Rechenzentrum AG is building a new co-location data center in Lucerne. The data center is intended to be energy-efficient, modular, and very modern. Based on extensive experience with such projects, DATASIGN has designed the data center. An important aspect of the design is the security of personnel and/or material flows. Specifically, there is a material airlock in the data center through which only materials are permitted to pass. The control must be automated, and special passage processes, such as emergency exit mode, should be adaptable. Furthermore, the airlock should be user-friendly and seamlessly integrated with the building's architecture.
The solution
The SMACS Mat is the solution that fulfills the requirements for secure material flow through the material airlock. The SMACS system seamlessly integrates into the existing infrastructure. Special modes, including an emergency exit mode and specific passage processes, are available.
